Kouturekiss - The Braided Headband

Hello everyone! Today I am back showing you all how to do the braided headband. This is a super cute spring and summer look that many celebrities wear during the season. It’s chic and steps up any outfit you wear whether it is for the beach, lazy day at home, a quick shift at your summer job, or on a cute date. And guess what? You can get this look in under just five steps and 5 minutes and you can be out the door ready for the day.

Steps 1 & 2: Brush out your nappies. Tangles are not idle for this hair tutorial and you need to have nice smooth hair so that your braid comes out not to frizzy. (You can wear this look with curly hair as long as your curls are not frizzy.) (more…)

The fishtail braid may look elaborate but—here’s a secret—it’s surprisingly easy to do! Follow these simple steps to achieve the perfect go-to on rushed mornings:

Steps 1 & 2: Start by brushing your hair—for a messier braid, opt for using your fingers, instead of a brush, to detangle hair while preserving hair’s natural texture.
Step 3: Create a ponytail with an elastic (Psst! This is the secret that makes this braid simple to do).
Step 4: Separate the pony tail into two sections.  (more…)

5 Shades Of Lips For Brunettes

Have your ever just changed your hair color so dramatically and now you can’t figure out what lipsticks to wear? I just recently had this problem switching to bright blonde to a very dark brunette. I have fixed my little problem and thought I would share my top 5 new lipsticks that look great with my newly dyed dark brunette hair.

  1. MAC’s ‘Charmed I’m Sure’ from the Marilyn Monroe Collection. It is a beautiful blue red that is matte and gives a very 1950’s look when it contrasts with your dark tresses. MAC’S Russian Red is a very good duplication for this product. (more…)

Think purple shadows only compliment green eyes? False! Blue-eyed gals can pull them off too. Shades of lilac atop blue eyes create an analogous color scheme perfect for spring—here’s how to create a soft smokey eye with purple hues:

  1. Apply a primer to bare lids using your ring finger to create a smooth surface and to help eye shadows stay in place, remain true to color and be crease-free. Using a large eye brush, apply the second-lightest shadow in your palette to your lid and brow bone. (more…)

Kouturekiss - The Waterfall Twist

Add an unexpected twist to your everyday tresses! The waterfall twist braid is perfect for amplifying a simple hairstyle. With practice, this easy-to-wear braid can become a go-to style for the upcoming summer months.

  1. Start by applying a pea-size amount of a finishing serum, like Organix Repairing Awapuhi Ginger Dry Styling Oil, to dry locks; this will make braiding dry hair easier by taming any flyaways.
  2. Gather a two inch section of hair near the part—you can start at the hairline or behind bangs—and separate that section into two equal pieces.
  3. Take the piece closest to the hairline and twist it over the second piece.
  4. Holding the two pieces of hair in one hand, grab a small piece of hair from above the twisted section in your other hand and place it between the first and second pieces. Let the new piece hang loosely—you will never add hair to the two original sections. (more…)

Kouturekiss - A Full Face Valentines Day Look

Whether you’ll be on the prowl, on a romantic date, or out to dinner with the gals, looking hot on Valentine’s Day is a must! The key is to look chic, but not overdone. Here’s how to get the sexiest makeup look, inspired by classic Valentine’s Day hues, that will have even Cupid trying to snag you as his date. The key points to this sultry look are dramatic eyes, a pop of pink on the cheeks and a red hot lip:

  1. Apply lightweight foundation: The first step to getting any flawless makeup look is to even the skintone. Using a lightweight, liquid foundation is best because it will even out your skin without making it look cakey. Use your ring finger (which has the lightest touch) to pat foundation onto the face and then blend it down the jawline and neck. (more…)

5 Flattering Eyeshadow Shades for the Blue-Eyed Girl

Blue eyes are beautiful. I spent a long time wishing my ‘boring’ dark blue eyes were a vivid green or a mysterious brown. But I’ve recently come to realize the beauty of what I’ve got. Blue eyes are dazzling, sweet and clear. And when paired with the right eyeshadow shades, can become striking and vivid.

Here we will take a look at the different colors you blue eyed girls can use to make your eyes really pop!

  • It may not be a blue-eyed girls first instinct to reach for the blue eyeshadow, but when you use an opposite shade to that of your eyes (light blue eyes – dark blue shadow, dark blue eyes – light blue shadow) the blues really begin to compliment each other! Use it on the upper and lower lids to really frame your peepers!
  • Browns are great shades to use for everyday looks. The neutral tones mean people are drawn the flash of color that is your iris, rather than focusing on the makeup.
  • A smokey black eye look will highlight any eye color, but in particular blue. Any color placed alongside black will immediately brighten in comparison. Use heavy black shadow right around the eye to get your eyes sparkling!
  • To pick out the lighter tones in your eyes use a grey shadow. Stormy greys are the most effective, or try a lighter shade to highlight your lower lash line or eyelid crease.
  • Finally, a great shade for an evening look is bronze or copper. These metallic shades really compliment blue eyes without overwhelming them. Perfect for statement makeup without distracting from your natural beauty!
