A signature look for classic, American beauty, is big, beautiful curls. Feminine and sweet, soft curls are a polished way to style your hair, anywhere you might go. To celebrate Election Day, here’s a tutorial on how to get the biggest, bounciest, vote-worthy curls in the country.
Step 1: Heat a large 1.5 inch curling iron to it’s highest heat setting. Start with day-old, un-washed hair. The oils in dirty hair hold curl much better than clean hair does, especially for those of us with fine, straight locks. Starting at the crown, section your hair into 4 layers. (more…)
Let’s face it: summer came and went too soon, but for this next tutorial you wont need the beach to have waves in your hair. For a while, every time I seen a “beachy waves” tutorial, I’ve needed sea salt from the ocean. Personally, my hair is already dry, so when I did try the spray it made it really dry (it is salt after all). Ultimately after trials and errors I found a way of achieving this look without having to dry my hair or apply lots of chemicals. (more…)
While we all love poker straight, shiny locks, there are times when you just can’t help but dream of a loose, tousled, sexy bed-head. It’s pretty but low-maintenance, it says ‘Oh this? It’s just my natural hair’ and is a look that works on anyone with medium to long length hair. Here is the simplest way to achieve it.
All you need for this look is:

However, I have never been able to muster the courage to actually chop off my locks. The faux bob is perfect for those who want to change up their everyday look and without having to actually cut it. While new hair trends are constantly popping up, sometimes the best place to look for a great hair stlye is the past! Loose vintage waves are a classic and sexy look that will never go out of style. The best part is that this look is super easy to achieve. Follow the steps below!
Step 1: Start with straight hair.
Step 2: Section off your hair starting at the bottom and working your way up.
Step 3: With a curling iron, take a section of hair and curl in/under towards you, creating a tight ringlet.
Step 4-8: Repeat step 3-9 on the rest of your hair. Curl your hair in towards you, not outwards (otherwise it will flip).
Step 9: Once all hair is in ringlets, using a brush, gently brush out all ringlets. (See final look soft brushed look at step 10)
Step 11: Take your curling iron on the ends of hair and give one final curl flipping hair in/under towards you.
Once finished, you should be left with loose vintage waves that are old school beauty icon worthy! For added glam, add a red pouty lip and you’ll feel red carpet ready!
2 inch curls are the perfect “beach inspired” wave. To get this look, I recommend using a curling rod because, in my opinion, it is easiest to maneuver. I use a really cute pink rod from Remington that I purchased from Target for under $30. However, any similar sized rod should do the job! Here’s how to achieve the curls. (more…)
My hair is absolutely impossible to curl. I have tried every method, every product, and every tool and each time it’s a total fail. However, I have recently discovered something that actually does the job — curling rods.
The only difference between a curling rod and a curling iron is that the curling rod does not have a clamp. Therefore, to get the perfect curl, you have to wrap your hair around the iron as appose to clamping it underneath. I use the Remington curling iron — its super cute (and pale pink!) and I like it because its larger in width than the typical curling rod so it makes really voluminous curls.
