Who doesn’t want bigger looking eyes? Unfortunately a lot of women don’t apply eyeliner correctly, making their eyes appear smaller than they really are. The key is to make your top lash line appear thicker and the whites of your eyes seem larger. The purpose is to open up your beautiful eyes, not enclose them.

You want people to notice you, not your heavy makeup so here’s a way to give your eyes that bit of pop it needs without being overdone. This is a great basic everyday look that can be changed up easily and worn for any occasion.
Step 1: Start with clean eyes and apply primer all over the lid up to your brow bone. Elf Primer is a great alternative to Urban Decay’s Primer Potion. For only 1 dollar compared to a 20 dollar primer, it’s a must have.
Step 2: Apply a red toned brown shadow all over the lid up to the crease with a wide blending brush. Mac’s Brown Script is matte and has great pigmentation with no fallout. (more…)

White liner is never thought of as a secret weapon, but girls, let me tell you: if you want your eyes to look awake, large and open, using white eyeliner is just what you need. Winged eyeliner is definitely a challenging technique to master – but I’ve laid out the steps for you to make the process as easy as possible. You’ll need a black liner of your choice and a black shadow with an angled brush to create the look. I suggest using a gel liner (or any liner that comes in a pot form) to create a wing because it tends to be the easiest and most forgiving of the liners. If you’re really uncomfortable trying this out, start with using a black shadow on an angled brush and making small swipes along your lid. Nautical themes are always on trend for summer. For this look I took inspiration from the M.A.C. collection “Hey Sailor”. The look is nautical with a smoky eye in navy blue, and a little hint of white that screams I’m ready to rock the boat.

Glitter eyeshadow can be utilized in tons of ways, but its easiest to break it down into “unfocused” and “focused” uses. If you are loosely placing the glitter to just add some sparkle to your look, this would be considered an “unfocused” use. Precisely placing glitter, for example, overtop a liner, would be a more “focused” use. So which is best for you?

A quick way to amp up your look is to add some sparkle! No matter what eye look you have created, it is always possible to add some glitter over top. In these two pictures (top row), I loosely placed glitter over top my eye makeup to take my daytime look into a more glamorous one for the night time. The glitter is really apparent in photography, as well as in dark light, so this is a really simple way to make your nighttime makeup stand out! (more…)
