Erica BroadwaterHi my name is Erica B and I’m the biggest beauty enthusiast you’ll ever meet. I’m never without a strong black cat eye and a bold lip! I would describe my style as edgy, rocker girl hip! I have dark brown eyes, but lately hazel! My hair is a little bit below my shoulders and it’s naturally curly, but I wear it straight. My hair is dark brown with caramel streaked bangs. My skin is chocolate brown, combination of oily and dry, but most of all sensitive. I currently live in Georgia, but originally from Hawaii. I go to Rutgers University and I’m majoring in East Asian Languages- Concentration in Chinese and minoring in Italian Studies. The reason why I chose this major and minor is because I want to be an international makeup artist. I think being cultured and knowing different languages around the world will really give me an edge and help me with my career. One day, I hope to be working behind stage of Fashion Week designing looks for the best designers or creating a look for the next Vogue Covergirl. Nicki Minaj always looks fabulous when she is on the red carpet. Her makeup is never not perfect. Whether she’s rocking a bright eyeshadow or a poppy lip color, she‘s on point! Her look is a variety of fun, artistry, and stylishness. To rock her look you must be one word, fierce. Today, I will be showing you how to get one of her most fierce looks- bright teal eyes and a soft pink lip. After this tutorial you’ll be ready to show off your inner Nicki!
One myth when it comes to women of color, especially dark skinned women, is that we can’t rock pink lips. Over the past few years, many stars such as Nicki Minaj, have shown us that we can pull off the perfect pink pout. However, when choosing the right shade of pink, be cautious: stay away from light pale pinks because they do not compliment the inner hue of your skin tone. Instead, opt for deeper pinks, in shades of fuchsia, mauve, and magenta. Paired with a cute cat eye and lots of mascara, you’ll look like just hopped off the red carpet! (more…)
